Relational

The Christian God is the ‘dancing Lord’. The strange Greek word perichoresis refers to the eternal dance of the God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Theologians have long recognised that ‘dance’ is one of the best ways of portraying God, and how God interacts and includes humanity into the relationship of the trinity.

This radical understanding of the dance in which we are called to participate is symbolised in our logo at The Well. Have a close look at our logo and you will see this perichoresis illustrated in several ways

1. There are three primary colours indicating the Godhead, Father, Son, Spirit, & that we are a part of a multicultural family made in his image.

2. There are three fish – can you see them? The fish was a symbol of early believers that summed up their creed Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour.

3. They are in a circle that has a rolling momentum. Both God and His church are on the move. There is a journey, a story, a quest and a destination.

Our lives are called to an adventure of grace. We are called to learn the steps of the Trinity as we follow Christ. Christianity is not about laws and rules, or do’s and dont’s. Jesus offered us new life, and indicated that this life would be like a dance, one that would inevitably challenge the world around us. When we dance to a different beat – the beat of the Trinity, then we are able to reveal to others the rhythm’s of Heavens heartbeat.

The world is increasingly faced with a stark choice in terms of what sort of God will we worship. Will we slavishly follow our own fears and appetites without reference to our creator? Will we worship a God that is monolithic, stern and unknowable? Or will we open up our lives to the One who seeks intimacy in a personal relationship?… one who challenges our sulky independance and calls us to a greater life of love than we can ever imagine!

Lets get our dancing shoes on!
